HomeMy WebLinkAbout83-15 - Amending Section 6.04.120 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code Re Prohibited Materials for Refuse CollectionNO. 83 -15 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING SECTION 6.04.120 OF THE NEWPORT BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE RE PROHIBITED MATERIALS FOR REFUSE COLLECTION SECTION 1. Section 6.04.120 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: Section 6.04.120 Prohibited Materials. The following materials are prohibited in refuse set out for collection: Amunition; explosives; industrial wastes; chemicals; pathological, toxic and radioactive waste; acids; drugs; medicines; human feces; unwrapped animal feces; dead animals; liquids; paints; any substance the disposal of which is regulated by the Hazardous Substances Act, or regulations adopted pursuant thereto. Any material, the disposal of which is prohibited within County land fills, including, but not limited to, items longer than 4 ft. in length or items more than 18 in. in • diameter; lube oils; and items which are too large for, or which may damage, the collection equipment or machinery such as large pieces of metal, machine parts, logs and tree stumps. Sod and building scraps as explained in Section 6.04.180 may be refused at the discretion of the collector. The General Services Director is hereby authorized to promulgate rules, regulations and standards regarding the types and nature of materials which are to be prohibited in refuse set out for collection, but those standards, rules and regulations will not be effective unless and until adopted and approved by resolution of the City Council. SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall be published once in the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be effec- • tive 30 days after the date of its adoption.
