• AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
AMENDING TITLE 14, CHAPTER 04 OF THE NEWPORT
BEACH MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING ADMINISTRATION
OF THE SALE OF EXCESS WATER OUTSIDE THE CITY
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach DOES
ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. Title 14, Chapter 4, Section 170 of the
Newport Beach Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as
follows:
14.04.170 Sale of Excess Water Outside City.
Subject to all restrictions on the City's power to do
so, the City may sell water, to the extent it has a supply in
excess of that required to adequately serve the inhabitants of
the City and the persons and agencies described in Section
• 14.04.160, to other persons or agencies for use outside the City
within the boundaries of either the Coastal Municipal Water
District or Orange County Municipal Water District, or both, but
only so long as the excess supply continues. The City may sell
on a month -to -month basis or may require a contract with each
purchaser where the City determines it to be in the best
interests of the City to do so. Such sales shall be at the same
rates and subject to the same rules and regulations as for water
used inside the City. The City is under no obligation to
continue any such service, and no purchaser receiving such
service shall acquire any right to have the service continued.
Section 2. This ordinance shall be published once in
the official newspaper of the City, and the same shall be
• effective 10 days after the date of its adoption.
This Ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of
• the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held on the 25th day
of June , 1984, and was adopted on the 9th day of July ,
1984 by the following vote:
