ORD I NANCE NO. 85 -1 <br />AN URGENCY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT <br />BEACH AMENDING THE PROVISIONS OF SECTIONS <br />20.13.040, 20.14.040, 20.15.0409 20.16.045 AND <br />20.17.045 REGARDING SETBACKS IN RESIDENTIAL <br />ZONES <br />SECTION 1. This ordinance is declared by the City <br />Council to be necessary as an emergency measure for preserving <br />public peace, health and safety. This ordinance is necessary to <br />preserve public views and open space along and across the <br />property bordering on Upper and Lower Newport Bay. The <br />preservation of setbacks and open space within areas previously <br />designated by the Council are a critical component of the City's <br />overall land use plan. <br />SECTION 2. Chapter 20.13 of the Newport Beach <br />Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: <br />• 20.13.040 Yards. A. FRONT YARDS. The minimum width <br />required for front yards shall be 20 ft. and a maximum permitted <br />shall be 35 ft., except as may be otherwise indicated on the <br />Districting Maps. Distances shown on the Districting Maps are to <br />be measured from the front property line, unless a different line <br />is shown on the Districting Map. <br />SECTION 3. Chapter 20.14 of the Newport Beach <br />Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: <br />20.14.040 Yards. A. FRONT YARDS. The minimum width <br />required for front yards shall be 20 ft. and a maximum permitted <br />shall be 35 ft., except as may otherwise be indicated on the <br />Districting Maps.
