• AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH
ADDING TERRITORY KNOWN AS "SEAWARD"
AND "SHELTON" TO COUNCIL DISTRICT SIX
WHEREAS, in August 1993 the City of Newport Beach annexed the
territory known as the "Seaward Annexation" into the City; and
WHEREAS, in March 1998 the City of Newport Beach annexed the
territory known as the "Shelton Annexation" into the City; and
WHEREAS, Section 1005 of the City Charter directs that "any territory
hereafter annexed to or consolidated with the City shall, at the time of such
annexation or consolidation, be added by ordinance of the City Council to an
adjacent district or districts" and
WHEREAS, Council District Six (6) is adjacent to the annexation areas
known as Seaward and Shelton; and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined that the placement of the
• Seaward and Shelton annexation areas within Councilmanic District Six is the
most appropriate placement for the areas;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach that the areas known as "Seaward" and "Shelton" be added to
Newport Beach City Councilmanic District Six until such time as the Council
approves an ordinance adopting a new redistricting plan in 1999.
ADOPTED this 1 lw day of May, 1998.
