ORDINANCE NO. 2003 -6 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING SECTION 20.85.025 OF THE <br />MUNICIPAL CODE RELATED TO GRANNY UNITS. [CODE <br />AMENDMENT NO. 2003 -0011 <br />WHEREAS, on March 6, 2003, the Planning Commission of the City of Newport <br />Beach initiated an amendment to Title 20 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code to <br />modify the use permit approval process for granny units; and <br />WHEREAS, on April 3, 2003, the Planning Commission of the City of Newport <br />Beach held duly noticed public hearings regarding this code amendment; and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval <br />of this code amendment to the City Council; and <br />WHEREAS, on April 22, 2003 the City Council of the City of Newport Beach held <br />duly noticed public hearings regarding this code amendment; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act, it has been <br />determined that the proposed amendment is categorically exempt under Class 5, minor <br />alterations in land use limitations. <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1: Title 20 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code shall be amended to <br />revise Section 20.85.025 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code, as follows, "Approval of a <br />use permit by the Planning Director in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 20.91 is <br />required for the establishment of any granny unit as defined in this Chapter." <br />
