HomeMy WebLinkAbout307 - Coast Boulevard & Other Improvements• • C RESOLUTION NO A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF NEr.TORT BEACH ORDERING THE I'_PROVE- MENT OF CERTAIN PORTIONS OF COAST BOULEVARD AND CERTAIN OTHER STREETS, AVENUES AND ALLEYS WITHIN SAID CITY, AND CERTAIN PROP- ERTY AND RIGHTS- OF -WAY OWNED BY SAID CITY. - -000 -- The Board of Trustees of the City of Newport BeEch do resolve as follows: SECTION I. That the public interest and convenience require the work hereinafter described to be done, and therefore the said Board of Trustees hereby orders the following work to be done and improvement to be made in said City, to -wit: That pipes, hydrants and other appliances and aDDur- tenances for supplying and distributing domestic water and for fire protection be constructed in certain portions of Fifth Ave- nue, Fourth Avenue (sometimes called 56th Place), Third Avenue (sometimes called 55th Place), Second Avenue (sometimes called 54th Place), First Avenue (sometimes called 53rd Place), Pacific Drive (sometimes called Electric Tay Street), Seaview Avenue (sometimes called 51st Place), Bay View Drive (sometimes called 50th Place), Ocean Boulevard, Avocado Avenue, Acacia Avenue (sometimes called 28th Avenue), Begonia Avenuer( sometimes called 29th Avenue), Carnation Avenue (sometimes called 30th Avenue), Dahlia Avenue (sometimes called 31st Avenue), Fernleaf Avenue (sometimes called 32nd Avenue), Goldenrod Avenue (sometimes called 33rd Avenue), Heliotrope Avenue (sometimes called 34th Avenue), Iris Avenue (sometimes called 35th Avenue), Jasmine Avenue (some- times called 36th Avenue), Larkspur Avenue (sometimes called 37th Avenue), Marguerite Avenue (sometimes called Pier Avenue), — 1 — 4 Marigold Avenue (sometimes called 39th Avenue), Narcissus Avenue (some- times called 40th, Avenue), Orchid Avenue (sometimes called 41st Avenue), Pansy Avenue (sometimes called 42nd 'venue), Poppy Avenue, Hazel Drive, • Coast Boulevard and County Road; and in the first alleys northeasterly • of Coast Boulevard, in the first alleys southwesterly of Coast Boule- vard, in the first alley southwesterly of Second Avenue (sometimes called 54th Place), in the first alley southwesterly of Tiater Front Drive, in the first alley northeasterly of Pacific Drive (sometimes called Electric Way Street), in the first alley southwesterly of First Avenue (sometimes called 53rd Place), in the first alley southwesterly of Seaview Avenue (sometimes called 51st Place), in the first alley northeasterly of Ocean Boulevard; in the first alley southeasterly of Avocado Avenue, Acacia Avenue (sometimes called 28th Avenue), Begonia Avenue (sometimes called 29th Avenue), Carnation Avenue (sometimes called 30th Avenue), Dahlia Avenue (sometimes called 31st Avenue), Fernleaf Avenue (sometimes called 32nd Avenue), Goldenrod Avenue (sometimes called 33rd Avenue), Heliotrope Avenue (sometimes called 34th Avenue), Iris Avenue (sometimes called 35th Avenue), Jasmine Avenue (sometimes called 36th Avenue), Larkspur Avenue (sometimes called 37th Avenue), and Hazel Drive; in the first alley northwesterly of Acacia Avenue (sometimes called 28th Avenue), Fernleaf Avenue (sometimes called 32nd Avenue), Goldenrod Avenue (sometimes called 33rd Avenue), Heliotrope Avenue (sometimes called 34th Avenue), Iris Avenue (sometimes called 35th Avenue), Jasmine Avenue (sometimes called 36th Avenue), Larkspur Avenue (sometimes called 37th Avenue), Marguerite Avenue (sometimes called Pier Avenue), Marigold Avenue (sometimes called 39th Avenue), Narcissus Avenue (sometimes called 40th Avenue), Orchid Avenue (sometimes called 41st Avenue), Pansy Avenue (sometimes called 42nd Avenue) and Poppy Avenue; in the first alley southwesterly of • Fifth Avenue, Fourth Avenue (sometimes called 56th Place), Bay View Drive (sometimes called 50th Place) and Third Avenue (sometimes called 55th Place); and in certain rights -of -way owned by said City; and that reinforced concrete reservoias together with pipes and valves and fit- tings, and appurtenances thereto, and also a pumping plant complete with buildings, engines, pumps, reinforced concrete reservoir, oil storage tank, air receivers, air compressors, pipes, valves, together with other appliances, and appurtenances thereto, be constructed upon certain properties owned by said City, all as more particularly de- scribed in Resolution - 2 - z v of Intention No. 304, as adopted by the Board of Trustees of said City on the 26th day of November, 1924, and on file in the office • of the City Clerk of said City. For further particulars, refer- ence is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention No. 304, and to the plans, profiles, drawings and cross - sections on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City, and according to the specifications on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, and all of said plans, profiles, drawings, cross -sec- tions and specifications heretofore approved by said Board of Trustees are incorporated herein and made a part hereof, and ref- erence is hereby made thereto for a more particular description. of said work. SECTION II. The said Board of Trustees also determined and declared that serial bonds to represent unpaid assessments and bear inter- est at the rate of seven (7) per cent per annum shall be issued hereunder in the manner provided by the Improvement Bond Act of 1915, the last installment of which bonds shall mature fourteen (14) years from the second day of July next succeeding ten (10) months from their date. SECTION III. The said Board of Trustees also determined and declared that the contemplated work and improvement hereinbefore mentioned was, in the opinion of the said Board, of more than local or or- dinary public benefit and the expense of said work and improvement • has been made chargeable upon a district. For a particular de- • scription of said district, reference is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention. SECTION IV. That sealed bids for said work shall be received up to 7:30 o'clock, P.M. of the 5th day of January, 1925, at which time - 3 - • • --VZ . said bids will be publicly opened, examined and declared by this Board. The City Clerk is hereby directed to post a notice in- viting sealed bids for said work with the specifications therefor, conspicuously for five days, on or near the council chamber door of this board, and to publish a like notice referring to the specifications posted, or on file, twice in the Newport News, a weekly newspaper printed, published and circulated in said City, and hereby designat4d for that purpose, (there being no daily newspaper in said City).
