A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH DECLARING THAT THE PUBLIC
NECESSITY AND CONVENIENCE REQUIRES THE CON=
STRUCTION OF A BRIDGE CONNECTING LIDO ISLAND
WITH THE MAINLAND AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
ENGINEER TO MAKE A REVISED APPLICATION TO THE
UNITED STATES DISTRICT ENGINEER FOR A PERMIT TO
CONSTRUCT SAME.
WHEREAS:. On March 17,1928, the Chief Engineer
and the Secretary of War approved.the location and plans
of bridge submitted by the City of Newport Beach on November
28, 1927.
WHEREAS: The City Council of the City of Newport
Beach have deemed it necessary to alter the type and plan of
bridge.
WHEREAS: The City Council of Newport Beach heretofore
approved the revised plans and maps showing the location, extent
and character of said ipprovemerit.
The City Council of the City of Newport Beach does
resolve as follows:
Section 1_ That the public interest and convenience require
the construction of a bridge and causeway extending from the
bulkhead line between the U. S. Bulkhead Stations No. 173 and
174 to the bulkhead line between U. S. Bulkhead Stations No.
124 and 125, the said bulkhead lines and bulkhead stations are
laid out and shown upon a map of Newport Bay, California, showing
harbor lines, approved by the War Department January 18, 1917,
in order to provide means of ingress and egress from the main-
land to what is commonly known as Lido Island.
• Section 2. That said bridge and causeway shall be constructed
in accordance with the revised maps and plans showing the location,
extent, and character of said improvement heretofore approved
by this Council and on file in the office of the City Engineer
of said City.
