WHEREAS, the crater supply in the Santa Ana River Basin
6

is not sufficient to supply the needs for water for domestic and
7
irrigation purposes to the lands and cities located within the
8
water shed of the Santa Ana River, and the underground supply of
9
water in said Basin is constantly diminishing; and
.

WHEREAS, it is reported that the City of Long Beach
11
is contemplating the taking of water in Orange County from the
12
Basin or water shed of the Santa Ana River for exportation to and
13
use in the City of Long Beach.

NO71, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED; by the City Council
15

of the City of Newport Beach that the City of Long Beach, through
16
its City Council, be urged not to carry out any such plan or
17
proposal, and be urged to confine its efforts to increase of its
18
water supply to the conservation and development of water in the
19
water shed of the San Gabriel River; and j
20
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That any effort to export
21
water from the Basin or water shed of the Santa Ana. River, be
22
resisted by this city.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That a certified copy of
24
this Resolution be forwarded by the City Clerk of the City of
25
Newport Beach, addressed to the City Council of the City of
26
Long Beach. i
