HomeMy WebLinkAbout692 - Lafayette Avenue & Other ImprovementsRESOLUTIOA N0. 6 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AWAf:DING THE CONTRACT FOR CERTAIN WORK ON LAFAYETTE AVENUE IND CERTAIN OTHER STREETS, ALLEYS AND EASE[ENT VITHIN SaD CITY. RESOLVED, that the City Council d' the City of Newport Beach, California., having in open session on the 8th day of June 1931, opened, examined and publicly declared all sealed proposals or bids for the following work to be done and im- provements to be made in the said City. to -tit: The improvement of Lafayette Avenue and certain other streets, alleys and easement in the City of Newport Beach, by certain grading, by the construction of certain disintegrated granite roadway, bituminous macadam nearing surface on disin- tegrated granite base, cast iron pipe water mains, gate valves, valve boxes and covers; cement concrete valve chamber, galvani- zed iron water pipe main fittings and appurtenances, vittgfied clay pipe house connection sewers and removal of certain existing cement concrete curb and gutter, all as more particularly des - cribed in Resolution of Intention No. 6113 passed and adopted by the City Council of said City on the 4th day of Eiay 1931, and on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City. For further particulars reference is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention No. 683 and to plans and profiles, being Plan No. 393 consisting of 3 sheets, numbered 1 to 3 inclusive and Standard Plans 1005, 1007, 1012, 1013, 1015, 1016., 1025, 1027, • and 1035, on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City and to the Specifications for the said work adopted by said City Council bn the 4th day of May 1931, and on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, and all of said plans, profiles, and specifications heretofor approved by said City Council 0 are incorporated herein and made a part hereof and reference is hereby made thereto for a more particular description of the said work. Said City Council has determined and declared that the contemplated work or improvement hereinbefore mentioned, was, In the opinion.of the said City Council, of more than local or ordinary public benefit, and the said City Council has made the expenses of the said work chargeable upon a district. For a particular description of said assessment district, reference is hereby made to said Resolutidu of Intention No. 683. Said City Council has determined and declared that serial bonds bearing interest at the rate of seven (7 %) per cent per annum be issued to represent each assessment of Twenty -five ($25;00) Dollars or more remaining unpaid for thirty (30) days after date of the warrant. Said serial bonds shall extend over a period ending nine (9) years from the 2nd day of January next succeeding the 15th day of the next Fiovewber following thels date. Payments on the principal of unpaid assessments and Interest shall be made by the property owners to the City Treasurer., and the same shall be disbursed by him, all as pro- vided in the °Improvement Act of 1911" hereinafterreferred to. All of the work herein ordered shall be done and carried through in accordance with the provisions of an Act of the Legis- lature of the State of California; designated as the "improvement Act of 1911, approved April 7, 1911, and all acts amendatory • thereto. Said City Council hereby rejects all of the said proposals or bids, except the neat hereinafter mentioned, and hereby arards the contract for the said work and improvement to the lowest, -2 -. 4. ?\ Z a T regular, responsible bidder, to -nit: to • at the prices named in e�is bid for the said work., on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City. The City Clerk of the said City is hereby directed to cause a Notice of Award of Contract to be published in the manner and form required by law by two (2) insertions in the Newport Nears, a ve.ekly newspaper., published and circulated in the City of Nerport Beach, and hereby designated for that purpose.
