ZaI7, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, FIXING THE RATE PER CENTUYL AND LEVYING A TAX UPON ALL OF THE TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH WHICH IS TAXABLE THEREIN FOR MUNICIPAL PURPOSES. The City Council of the City of Newport Beach do resolve and declare as follows: let. Resolved, that there be and is hereby levied upon all of the taxable property within the City of Newport Beach which is taxable therein for municipal purposes, a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary money with which to carry on the various departments of the City of Newport Beach for the current fiscal year. 2nd. Resolved, that the rate per centum of the tax hereinafter levied shall be and is hereby fixed as the sum of ninety -three (93) cents on each one hundred dollars of value designated for each fund as follows: For the current expense fund - ninety (90) cents For the library fund - three (3) cents Total tax levy - ninety -three (93) cents 3rd. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied for municipal purposes, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within the City of Newport Beach a tax for the purpose of raising the necessary and sufficient money to pay the annual interest on all issued, outstanding and unpaid municipal bonds of the City of Newport Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as shall become due before the time for fixing the next general tax levy in and for said City, the rate hereby levied for said purposes is fixed at 28 • 29 30 31 32 ROLAND THOMPSON ATTORNEY AT LAW SANTA ANA. CALIF. twenty —two (22) cents on each one hundred dollars ($10040) of value, and the same shall be collected at the same time and in the same manner as all other municipal taxes are collected excepting upon property annexed at an election held the 11th day of February, 1924, and known as Corona Del Max, provided that the said taxes herein levied shall be exclusive of any tax levied for the payment of interest and principal of $300,000.00 bonds of the City of Newport Beach issued and sold for the completion of the municipal water system thereof, and $448,000.00 bonds for the city of Newport Beach issued and sold for the construction and improvement of jetties in the City of Newport Beach and known as the Jetty Bonds of 1927, and $190,000.00 bonds of the City of Newport Beach, for the acquisition, con- struction and completion, by the City of Newport Beach, of a certain municipal improvement, to —wit, the improvement of the municipal harbor by deepening and dredging the channel, and by the acquisition and construction of various groins for the pur- pose of controlling the tide and protecting the existing jetties and shore lands, and including for said purpose the acquisition of lands and rights of way, which said bonds are known and designated as Newport Beach Harbor Improvement Bonds of 1929. 4th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied for municipal purposes there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within the City of Newport Beach a tax for the purpose -of raising the necessary and sufficient money to pay the annual interest on $300,000.00 bonds of the City of Newport Beach, issued and sold for the completion of the municipal water system thereof, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the City of Newport Beach, and also such part of the principal thereof as shall become due before the time for fixing ttLe next general tax levy in and for said City, and for the further purpose of paying the annual interest on $448,000.00 bonds of the City —2— r , i 2 • 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 li 1.2 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 ROLAND THOMPSON ATTORNEY AT 4AW SANTA ANA. CALIF. of Newport Beach, issued and sold for the erection and constructio of jetties and the improvement of said jetties, issued, outstandin and unpaid of the City of Newport Beach, and known as the Jetty Bonds of 1927, and also such part of the principal thereof as shal become due before the time of fixing the next general tax levy in and for said City, and for the further purpose of paying the annual interest on $1909000.00 bonds of the City of Newport Beach, issued and sold for the improvement of the harbor of the City of Newport Beach, and the construction of various groins for the purpose of controlling the tide and protecting the exist- ing jetties and shore lands, issued, outstanding and unpaid of the City of Newport Beach, and known as the Newport Beach Harbor Improvement Bonds of 1929, and also such part of the principal thereof as shall become due before the time of fixing the next general tax levy in and for said City. The rate of tax hereby levied for the purpose of the interest and principal of said water bonds and said jetty bonds, and said Newport Beach Harbor Improvement Bonds of 1929, as aforesaid, is hereby fixed at fifty —seven (57) cents on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) of value. 5th. Resolvdd, that in addition to all other taxe herein levied there is hereby levied on all the taxable property within the City of Newport Beach a tax of ten (;0) cents on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) for advertising purposes, pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 144 submitted to and carried by a majority of the votes of all the voters voting at an eleati held for the purpose of voting for or against said ordinance on the 24th day of September, 1918. 6th. CALIF. for park purposes pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No: 380 of the City of Newport Beach, submitted to and carried by a majori y of the votes of all the voters voting at an election held for the purpose of voting for or against said ordinance on the 28th day of May, 1930. 7th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within the Municipal Improvement District No. 1 of the City of Newport Beach, a tax of three (3) cents on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation for the payment of semi- annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said district. 8th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within Municipal Improvement District No. 2 of the City of Newport Beach, a tax of fifteen (15) cents on each one hundred dollars (100.00) of assessed valuation for the payment of semi- annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said dis- trict. 9th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied, there is hereby levied on all of the taxable property within Municipal Improvement District No. 3 of the City of Newport Beach a tax of fifty -two (52) cents on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) of assessed valuation for the payment of semi- annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said district 10th. Resolved, that in addition to all other taxes herein levied, on all of the taxable property within Munici- pal Improvement District No. 7 of the City of Newport Beach, a tax of eighteen (18) cents on each one hundred dollars ($100.00) of the assessed valuation for the payment of semi - annual interest on and the redemption of the bonds of said district. 12th. Delinquencies having occurred in the payment of assessments and interest thereon for the work done and improve- ments made in the City of Newport Beach, pursuant to the following resolutions. CALIF. �1 } Resolution of Intention No. 477, passed, adopted and approved on the 5th day of November, 1928; Resolution of Intention No. 503, passed, adopted and approved on the 29th day of April, 1929; Resolution of Intention No. 543, passed, adopted and approved on the 12th day of November, 1929; Resolution of Intention No. 581, passed, adopted sa d approved on the 3rd day of March, 1930; Resolution of Intention No. 583, passed, adopted and approved on the 17th day of March, 1930. The property upon which the assessments and interest were a lien having, on account of said delinquencies, been sold to the 01ty of NewportBeach, and there being no available funds in the treasury of the City of Newport Beach with which to pay the delinquent assessments and delinquent interest thereon, and the tax collector having made demand on the City Council that a suitable amount be included in the tax levy of 1931 -1932, for the purpose ofproviding funds with which to make such payments, there i hereby levied on each one hundred dollars (100.00) of assessed (value of the real and personal property in the City of Newport Beach therein taxable for municipal purposes the sum of ten (10) cents for the purpose of making such payments.
