RESOLUTION N0. 3I`
WHEREAS, request has been made for the auditing of the
books of the City Treasurer of the City of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach
did, pursuant to said request, order that an auditing be made
of the books of the City Treasurer of the City of Newport Beach,
and ordered that the firm of Crenshaw and Company, certified
public accountants, of Santa Ana, California, audit said books
and report the result of said audit to the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach at its earliest convenience; and
WHEREAS, the said Crenshaw and Company have audited
said books and have this day made a report concerning said audit
P,nd have presented said report to the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Bench
has considered said report, item by item, paragraph by paragraph,
and find as a result of the. examination of said report that the
City Treasurerts books are in order and that all moneys of the
City of Newport Beach on deposit with the banks, are secured by
bonds, as required by law, except that the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach finds from said report of said public
accountant, that the moneys of the City of Newport Beach on
deposit with the Bank of Balboa, at Balboa, California, are not
sufficiently secured by bonds, as required by law, and that the
securities held by the City Treasurer covering the deposits at
said Bank of Balboa, at Balboa, California, are of the market
value of approximately �� A , as shown by said
report.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the sureties on
City Treasurerts official bond be notified of the result of said
Crenshaw and Companyts audit of the City Treasurer's books, in
relation to funds deposited by said City Treasurer in the Bank of
Balboa and in other banks; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Attorney df the
City of Newport Beach be authorized and directed to ascertain the
legal responsibility of all parties concerned in relation to the
money desposited with said Bank of Balboa, and that he, the said
City Attorney, take all steps necessary to safe -guard the inter-
ests of the City of Newport Beach relative to said deposits, and
that he report back to this City Council at the earliest date
practicable, of his actions and findings relative to the matters
contained herein.
I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly
and regularly passed by the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach at a :special meeting thereof held on the 28th day of March,
