CALIF. <br />RESOLUTION NO. ,� <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NEiPORT BEACH CALLING A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br />TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY OF NEVIPORT BEACH ON FRIDAY, <br />THE 5th DAY OF MAY, 1933, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUB- <br />MITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID CITY TWO <br />CERTAIN PROPOSITIONS, FIXING THE PRECINCTS AND <br />POLLING PLACES, FOR THE HOLDING OF SAID ELECTION, <br />AND APPOINTING OFFICERS FOR SAID ELECTION, AND <br />FIXING THEIR COMPENSATION. <br />WHEREAS, certain citizens of the City of Newport Beach <br />have requested that Ordinance No. 52 of said city be repealed, <br />and a new ordinance substituted in its place and stead, providing <br />for the holding of boat the course of which unmuffled <br />engines may be used by the contestants, upon the waters of the <br />open ocean and the waters of Newport Bay, within the city limits <br />of the City of Newport Beach, along and over a course to be <br />designated, defined and described by the City Council of the City' <br />of Newport Beach, and providing that. permits granted for said <br />racing, shall be for a period of time not to exceed three (3) <br />hours, and the entire period of time for which such special <br />permit is to be granted, to fall between the hours of eight <br />o'clock A. ME and five o'clock P. M., and <br />WHEREAS, a petition signed by the requisite number of <br />qualified electors of the City of Newport Beach, under the law <br />as provided for in Statutes of 1911, page 599, and known as the <br />Local Option Law, has been duly presented to the City Council <br />of the City of Newport Beach; and <br />WHEREAS, under the law it is provided that upon the <br />presentation of such petition, certified by the Clerk of said <br />City as being sufficient, it is incumbent upon said 'city to <br />call an election within six (6) months and not lessthan forty <br />(40) days before the holding of the neat general State or general <br />
