RESOLUTION NO. 1 !D
WHEREAS, Section 5 of Senate Bill No. 563 has been
called to the attention of the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, said section 5 provides in substance that
it shall be the duty of the Highway Commission to designate
and to determine the location of connecting portions, either
through or around the municipality, as the Commission may
determine will be of the greatest benefit to through traffic,
and the said Commission shall determine such connecting portions
with respect to all state highways, the natural courses of which
run or pass into or through any municipality; and
WHEREAS, it is the belief of the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach that every small municipality should have
the right and privilege of compelling the Commission to locate
state highway over and alonaroutes designated by the city where
the natural courses of said state highway run or pass into or
through said city.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City of
Newport Beach protests and they do by this resolution protest the
inclusion of Section 5 in said Senate Bill No. 563; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach urge their representatives to do all in
their power to amend said Senate Bill by the elimination of
section 5 therefrod; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That a certified copy of
this resolution be sent by the City Clerk of the City of Newport
Beach to the Honorable Ted Craig, the Honorable Nelson T.Eswards
and the Honorable James B. Utt, Capitol Building, Sacramento,
California.
