1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />• 5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9' <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />RESOLUTION NO. ;'(I <br />WHEREAS, it appears that many citizens of the City <br />of Newport Beach, California, are in favor of the Townsend Old <br />Age Pension Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, many bodies politic as well as many civic <br />organizations throughout the country have endorsed said plan and <br />have memorialized Congress to enact such law at the present <br />session of Congress; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the consensus of opinion of the <br />City Council of the City of Newport Beach that the enactment of <br />such a law would tend to alleviate the suffering amongst those <br />who are unable to do any work whatever, and would in addition <br />thereto, help the financial condition of the Country. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City <br />Council of the City of Newport Beach respectfully petitions <br />the United States Congress of America to enact the Townsend Old <br />Age Pension Plan, as contemplated by said Act, and in its entirety; <br />20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That certified copies of <br />21 this Resolution be sent to the Honorable Hiram Johnson, William G. <br />22 cAdoo and Sam L.
