1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />• 5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9' <br />10 <br />0 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />29 <br />30 <br />31 <br />32 <br />ROLAND THOMPSON <br />ATTORNEY AT LAW <br />BANTA ANA, CALIP. <br />RESOLUTION N0. & %-- -- <br />WHEREAS, the Municipal Pier located at 22nd Street in <br />the City of Newport Beach was injured and damaged by reason of <br />high waters of the Pacific Ocean; and <br />WHEREAS, there is eminent danger that unless said pier <br />Is repaired at once, that the whole thereof will be lost; and <br />WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City Council of the City <br />of Newport Beach the need to repair said pier immediately is <br />necessary in order to save the same, and the City Council of the <br />City of Newport Beach therefore does not have time to advertise <br />for bids, for the doing of the work contemplated, as provided by <br />law; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council that <br />the injury and damage to said pier caused by high waters of the <br />Pacific Ocean constitutes and is a great calamity and an emergency <br />exists by reason thereof. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the public <br />Interest and necessity demand the immediate expenditure of public <br />money to safeguard public property in.the city of Newport Beach; <br />:,. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council of the <br />City of Newport Beach appropriate the sum of Seven Hundred Fifty <br />Dollars ($750.00) from the General Fund of said city, for the pur- <br />pose of repairing said municipal pier in accordance with the <br />plans suggested by the City Engineer of the City of Newport Beach; <br />t77T.I <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That said #750.00 mentioned <br />In the foregoing paragraph be used for the purpose of paying for <br />the materials and labor to be used in the repair and conditioning <br />of said pier; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Oity Engineer of the <br />
