RESOLUTION N0. & %-- -- WHEREAS, the Municipal Pier located at 22nd Street in the City of Newport Beach was injured and damaged by reason of high waters of the Pacific Ocean; and WHEREAS, there is eminent danger that unless said pier Is repaired at once, that the whole thereof will be lost; and WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City Council of the City of Newport Beach the need to repair said pier immediately is necessary in order to save the same, and the City Council of the City of Newport Beach therefore does not have time to advertise for bids, for the doing of the work contemplated, as provided by law; and WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council that the injury and damage to said pier caused by high waters of the Pacific Ocean constitutes and is a great calamity and an emergency exists by reason thereof. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the public Interest and necessity demand the immediate expenditure of public money to safeguard public property in.the city of Newport Beach; :,. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of Newport Beach appropriate the sum of Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars ($750.00) from the General Fund of said city, for the pur- pose of repairing said municipal pier in accordance with the plans suggested by the City Engineer of the City of Newport Beach; t77T.I BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That said #750.00 mentioned In the foregoing paragraph be used for the purpose of paying for the materials and labor to be used in the repair and conditioning of said pier; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Oity Engineer of the • • 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 G 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 ROLAND THOMPSON ATTORNeY AT LAW BANTA ANA, OALIP. N City of Newport Beach be and he is hereby directed and instructed to purchase all necessary materials for the repair of said pier and to hire such necessary labor in the repair thereof, and to repair said pier immediately. I hereby certify that the above and foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach at a special meeting thereof held on the 28th day of January, 1935, by the following vote, to —wit: ATES, COUNCILMEN: C%/ . 07 .
