RESOLUTION N0. Q J
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING THAT
THE PUBLIC NECESSITY AND CONVENIENCE REQUIRE
THE CONSTRUCTION OF A FOOT BRIDGE ACROSS THE
RIVO ALTO CHANNEL, A WESTERLY ARM OF NFNPORT
BAY, AT 36TH STREET, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
ENGINEER TO MAKE APPLICATION TO THE UNITED
STATES DISTRICT ENGINEER FOR A PERMIT TO
CONSTRUCT SAME.
WHEREAS: The public necessity and convenience require
the construction of a foot bridge across the Rivo Alto Channel,
a westerly arm of Newport Bay, at 36th Street, in order to
provide for pedestrian travel to the ocean beach.
WHEREAS: The City Engineer has presented plans for a
proposed foot bridge across the Rivo Alto Channel, which plans
show the location, extent, and character of said improvement.
NO',', THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Engineer
is hereby authorized to make application to the U. S. District
Engineers Office at Los Angeles for a War Department permit to
construct said foot bridge, in accordance with the aforesaid
plans.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach, California, at a regular meeting thereof, held
on the 2nd day of December, 1940, by the following vote, to -wit:
