WHEREAS,. Irvin George Gordon has been elected Supervisor

Fifth
in and for the Emmv2K District of Orange County, California, by an
5
over- whelming majority of the citizens of said district; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Gordon assume&is duties as such
7
Supervisor at the first meeting of the Board of Supervisors fAmrdff
8
Monday
held on , January &, 1943, and it therefore became necessar;
9
for this Council to accept his resignation as City Councilman of
10
the City of Newport Beach; and
11
WHEREAS, Irvin George Gordon during his office as City
12
Councilman of the City of Newport Beach has not only served the
13
community in which he resides, but also the state and nation,
14
honestly, sincerely and efficiently; and
15
WHEREAS, Mr. Gordon will in his new office have a
16
greater opportunity of serving the people of his community, the
17
people of his district, and the state and nation.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED; That this City Council
19
go of record as having accepted the resignation of Irvin George
20
Gordon with sincere regret, as he has not only been an able,
21
hard-working and honest councilman, but has endeared himself
22
through his unfailing courtesy, sympathy and public work, to those
23
who have worked with him.
24
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the best wishes of the City
25
Council for continued success go with Mr. Gordon into his new
26
office, and that he may be as successful as Supervisor of Orange
27
County as he has been in the office of Councilman of the City
28
of Newport Beach.
