3 WHEREAS, it is necessary for the proper defense of the
4 City of Newport Beach to appoint a ; and
5 WHEREAS, it will require, in order to properly perform
6 the duties of said office, a great deal of time as well as the
7 running and use of an automobile and gasoline therefor; and
8 WHEREAS, H. L. Sherman has offered to perform said duties
9 for the sum of $50.00 per month which will only take care of his
10 actual expense, automobile use and gasoline.
11 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
12 the City of Newport Beach does hereby amend the Salary Resolution
13 of the City of Newport Beach so as to provide that H. L. Sherman
14 shall be appointed at a salary of $50.00 per
15 month, commencing as of the let day of January, 1943.
16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Salary Resolution
17 heretofore adopted by the City Council be and the same is hereby
18 amended as herein specified, and that in all other respects said
19 Salary Resolution shall be and remain in full force and effect
20 except as amended by this resolution.

22 I hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly
23 and regularly g y passed and adopted by the City Council of the City
24
of Newport Beach at a regular meeting thereof held on the 4th
25
day of January, 1943, by the following vote, to -wit:
