HomeMy WebLinkAbout3996 - Construction of Sanitary Sewers0 • 0 E 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 C 0 P Y RESOLUTION OF AWARD OF CONTRACT NO. 3996 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR THE WORK DESCRIBED IN RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 3966 RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Newport Beach, California, having in open session on the 8th day of September, 1952 publicly opened, examined and declared all sealed proposals or bids for the following work to be done and improvements to be made in said City, to -wit: The construction of vitrified clay pipe sanitary sewers, vitrified clay-pipe house connection sewers, welded steel sewer pipe, vitrified clay pipe lamp -hole, manholes, sewage pumping station, welded steel sewer pressure line, concrete anchor blocks, and appurtenant work in connection therewith, in certain easements of the City of Newport Beach and lying generally Southwesterly of Ocean Boulevard (Corona del Mar), all as more particularly described in Resolution of Intention No. 3966, passed and adopted by the City Council of said City on the 28th day of April, 1952, and on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City. For further particulars, reference is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention No. 3966 and to the plans, profiles and drawings No. 436, consisting of 5 sheets, on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Newport Beach, and to the specifications for the said work heretofore adopted by the said City Councilon file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, and all of said plans, profiles, drawings and specifications heretofore approved by the City Council of said City are incorporated herein and made a part hereof, and reference is hereby made thereto for a more particular description of said work. 1 2 3 • 4 5 6 • 0 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 Said City Council has determined and declared that the contemplated work and improvement heretofore mentioned was, in the opinion of said City Council of more than local or ordinary public benefit and the City Council has made a portion of the expenses of said work chargeable upon a district. For the Part- icular description of said district, reference is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention No. 3966. Said Council has determined and declared that serial bonds, bearing interest at the rate of six per cent (67.) per annum and extending over a period ending nine (9) years from the second day of .January next succeeding the next October 15th following their date, will be issued hereunder in the manner provided by the "Improvement Act of 1911 ", being Part 5, Division 7 of the Street and Highways Code of the State of California, to represent each assessment of Twenty -five Dollars ($25.00) or more remaining unpaid for thirty (30) days after the date of recording the warrant. Said City Council has also determined and declared in said Resolution of Intention No. 3966 that the said City will furnish two (2) sewage pumps, together with electric motors to be installed by the contractor in the pump station described in said Resolution of Intention, and will in addition thereto contribute out of its Corona del Mar State Park Fund the sum of $5,636.75 towards the cost and expenses of said improvement. The liability and obligation to pay such sum, as provided in said Resolution of Intention, shall accrue and become fixed upon the date of confirmation of the assessment for said improve- ment by the City Council of said City. All of the work herein ordered shall be done and carried through in pursuance of an act of the legislature of the State of California, designated the "Improvement Act of 1911 ", being Division VII of the Streets and Highways Code. 1 2 3 • 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 • 28 • 29 30 31 32 Said City Council hereby rejects all of the said proposals or bids, except the next hereinafter mentioned, and hereby awards the contract for the said work and improvement to the lowest, regular_md responsible bidder, to -wit: To James I. Gallacher at the prices named in said bid for said work, on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City. The City Clerk of said City is hereby directed to cause a NOTICE OF AWARD OF CONTRACT to be published in the manner and form required by said Code, by two insertions in the "Newport Harbor Ensign" a weekly newspaper published and circulated in the City of Newport Beach and hereby designated for the purpose by the said City Council.
