FIXING OF SAID RATE AT LESS THAN 10A BY ORDIN- <br />ANCl OF TKk. CITY COUNCIL. <br />WHEREAS, the present Section 2601 of the municipal Code <br />of the City of Newport Beach provides for a 50 per :100.00 asses- <br />nod valuation of all taxable property in the City of Newport <br />for library purposes; and <br />w1i REAS, it appears that the said levying of 56 per <br />0100.00 has not raised sufficient funds for the adequate mainten- <br />anoe of the said public library; and <br />WHEREAS, it appears that it would be advisable to submi' <br />to the voters of the City of Newport ;Reach the question of who <br />or not said 50 per $100.00 levy should be increased from 56 per <br />$100.00 to 10id per -WO.00; <br />NOW$ THT!'EFORE, F'F; IT Ko,SOLVED AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1: That at the general municipal election to <br />be held in the City of Newport :Beach on the 13th day of April, <br />1954, there shall be submitted to the qualified electors of said <br />City the proposition of amending Section 2601 of the Municipal <br />Code of the City of Newport Beach so as to permit the levy and <br />collection for the purpose of providing and maintaining the publi <br />library in the City of Hewnart Lieach, for each fiscal year, of a <br />tax up to a maximum of 10A on each <?100.00 of the assessed valu- <br />ation of all taxable property within the City of Newport Beach, <br />and so as to permit the fixing of said tax rate at less than 100 <br />per 0100.00 in the discretion of the City Council by ordinance of <br />the City Council. <br />SECTION 2: That said proposition shall be submitted to <br />the qualified electors of the said City at said election by a <br />3 <br />J✓ <br />
