RESOLUTION No. J. J
WHEREAS, at a regular meeting of the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach held on January 14, 1957, the City
trAMser of said city, pursuant to Section 6111 of the Municipal
Code of said city, submitted to said Council his written statement
with respect to the business license of the Rendezvous Ballroom
Issued to Al Anderson and Clyde R. Johnson doing business as
"Rendezvous Ballroom% which said statement is as follows:
"Daring the sumr of 1956, and subsever:tly, events
have occurred at the dance hall located at 6013 East Ocean Front,
City Of Newport Beach, known as the Rendezvous Ballroom, which hav
been of apparent concern to the public and to members of the City
Council, and which provide reasonable ground for the belief that
the license for the business is being used in contravention of the
Municipal Code. This belief has been voiced to the extent that
a hearing on the question appears to be in order.
"Accordingly, and pursuant to Section 6111 of the Muni-
cipal Code, the City Manager hereby recommends that the City
Council set a date for a hearing on the suspension or revocation
of the business license issued to gears. Clyde Johnson and
Al Anderson on the ground that said hearing may reveal that the
premises of said business are not in good and sanitary condition;
that said business has become dangerous to and adversely affects
the public health, safety, welfare, morals and quiet, and that
said business has been conducted in a disorderly and improper
manner, and that the business for which said business license has
been issued is being abused to the detriment of the public.
"It is further recommended that notice of such hearing
be given to the licensees as provided in section 61ll of the
Municipal Cale," and

on.Januaay 14, 1957, the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach, by resolution, fixed a date for the hearing thereon,
said hearing to be held on February 4, 1957 in the City Council
Chambers located in the City Ball of the City of Newport Beach
at the hour of 7t3O p.m. on said date; and
WHMM 3, due and legal notice of the time and place of
said hearing was given as required by law and said hearing was
conducted at'said time and place; and
WMMEAS, there was delivered to the City Clerk of said
City at the time of the commencement of said hearing a letter

from said licensees advising the City Council that they would not
nor would their attorney be present at said hearing; and
WNMUM, evidence, both oral and documentary, was intro-
duced at said hearing and at the conclusion. thereof, said hears:
having been duly and regularly olofsed and the proceeding having
been taken under submission by said City Council and good
cause appearing therefor;

After listening to all the testimony inked at said
hearing and based upon the findings as stated above. it is the
conclusion of said City Council that said license should be
revoked)
AND BE IT MTHER RESOLVED, that the license of Al
and Clyde R. Johnson doing business as Rendezvous Ballrom be,
and the same is hereby revoked.
