RESOLUTION LBO. 6513
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY CCUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING FETITION -TO THE.BOARD
OF SUPERVISORS OF. ORANGE CCUNTY.TO HAVE.PROPERTY
WITHIN THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH. EXCEPTED FROM
THE LEVY OF ANY ORANGE COUNTY TA:C TO PROVIDE
STRUCTURAL, FIRE PROTECTION
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is a municipal co
ation incorporated and now existing under and by virtue of a
granted under the laws of the State of California; and
i3HEREAS,
the
City of Newport
Beach lies
in the
County of
Orange in the State
of
California, and
maintains
a fire
department
with fire fighting equipment and with trained, competent personnel
under outstanding leadership, which said department has available
to it a water system with adequate pressure, circulated through
large trunk mains, all of which has resulted in the organized fare
department of the City providing adequate structural fire pro-
tection to all property within the corporate limits of said City;
and
14HEREAS, no additional benefit in fire protection is
received or required by such property from structural fire pro-
tection given by the County; and
WHEREAS, Section 25643 of the Government Code of the S
of California provides for a petition supported by a resolution to
have property in an area such as the City of Newport Beach excepted
from the levy of any tax for the purpose of providing structural
fire protection on the part of the County in which such area is
located;
NOW, THEREFORE, Bay IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach hereby authorizes and directs a petition
to be presented to the Honorable Bcard of Supervisors of Orange
County, supported by a certified copy of this resolution, petition-
ing said County to comply with said Government Code Section 25643,
and that the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and directed to

1 execute and attest and transmit said petition on behalf of the
2 City of Newport Beach.
