MAINTENANCE .OF VOLLEYBALLL <br />PLAYING AREAS.ON THE PUBLIC CCZAN FRONT BEACI-05 IN <br />TM CITY <br />AREAS, an interest exists in playing volleyball on <br />the public ocean front beaches in the City of Newport Beach; and <br />MiEREAa, volleyball is a healthy, wholesome recreational <br />activity which should be encouraged; and <br />WHEREAS, there is a need to separate volleyball playing <br />from sunbathing, swimming and other uses of the beach to elim- <br />inate conflicts; <br />NOW3 THEREliORE, BE IT RESOLVED as follows: <br />(1) The public ocean front beaches are hereby divided <br />into four volleyball playing zones which are identified as follows; <br />ZONE ONE shall be the area between the <br />Santa Ana River and Orange Avenue. <br />ZONE TWO shall be the area between Orange <br />Avenue and Newport Pier. <br />ZONE TIME shall be the area between the <br />Newport Pier and the West Jetty. <br />ZCVE FOUR shall be the main beach at Corona <br />del Liar State and City Beach Park. <br />(2) No volleyball posts shall be installed within fifty <br />feet (50') of a private property line in any of the four volleyball <br />playing zones established herein. <br />(3) All volleyball posts installed and maintained with- <br />in Zone Two shall be at least eight hundred feet (500') apart. <br />(4) All volleyball posts located in any of the zones <br />established herein shall be installed and maintained exclusively <br />by the City department of Parks, Beaches and Recreation. <br />(5) Any volleyball posts in existence on the date of <br />adoption of this resolution shall be considered nonconforming <br />and may be removed at the discretion of the Parks, Beaches and <br />Recreation director after the expiration of thirty days following <br />
