RESOLUTION N0. 6554
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR AN INLAND
LOCATION (GREEN LINE CONCEPT) OF THE PROPOSED
ROUTE 1 FREEWAY EASTERLY OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH
WHEREAS, the City Council is concerned about the
relationship of the freeway to future land development, and the
effect of the proposed freeway on area wide traffic service;
and
WHEREAS, the inland location will conform to a more
desirable pattern of ocean oriented land use; and
WHEREAS, the inland location of the proposed freeway
will result in an evenly balanced distribution of traffic over
the entire street and highway system paralleling the freeway;
and
WHEREAS, the inland location will require a signifi-
cantly smaller expenditure of public funds;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
The California Highway Commission is urged to approve
the inland location (Green Line concept) of the proposed Route 1
Freeway easterly of the City of Newport Beach.
ADOPTED this loth day of April, 1967.
