E.n , Section 100.2 of the California Streets and
Highways Code requires the consent of the California Highway Com-
mission. before any City street may be opened into or connected
with any freeway; and
T- n,MvAS, the connection of Newport Center Drive and rifthl
Avenue to the proposed 'Route 1 freeway alignment would be of
benefit and serve the public interest; and
Fifth Avenue is not now shown on the City of
Newport Beac1 Piaster Street and Highway Plan;
N0rUp THMEFO?M, 3E IT RESOLVED:
1. That the City 21anning Commission is requested to
initiate proceedings to include Fifth Avenue as a part of the
Paster° Street and Highway Plan.
2. That the California Highway Commission is hereby
requested to approve grade separations and interchanges at the
junctions of Netmort Center Drive and Fifth Avenue with the -pro-
posed Route 1 freeway alignment.
