HomeMy WebLinkAbout6697 - General Municipal Election - 4-9-681%76% RESOLUTION N0. 6697 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH APPOINTING ELECTION OFFICERS AND ESTABLISHING THEIR COMPENSATION, DESIGNATING & POLLING PLACES, AND PROVIDING FOR THE OPENING AND CLOSING OF THE POLLS FOR THE REGULAR GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON APRIL 9, 1968 WHEREAS, the City Council by Resolution No. 6690 called a regular general municipal election to be held on April 9, 1968, as provided in the Charter of the City of New- port Beach; and WHEREAS, it is necessary that the City Council ap- point election officers, establish their compensation, and designate polling places to be used in said election; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of New- port Beach does hereby resolve, declare, determine and order as follows: SECTION 1. That for the purpose of holding said regular general municipal election, there shall be and are hereby established forty -six (46) voting precincts consisting of one consolidation and of the regular.election . prec.incts in the City of Newport Beach established for the holding of state and county elections, as said regular election precincts exist on the date of adoption of this resolution; that the polling places for the respective precincts shall be the places herein- after designated; that the persons hereinafter named, being competent and qualified electors and residents of said City and of their respective voting precincts, are hereby appointed - officers of election for their respective voting precincts and they shall hold said election and make return thereof in the manner provided by law. That the compensation of the personsbereinabove named as election officers is hereby fixed at the sum of Twenty -one Dollars for each Inspector and Eighteen Dollars for each Judge and Clerk, for said election. The rental for each of such polling places where a charge is made shall be the sum of Fifteen Dollars for said election. SECTION 3. That the polls for said election shall be open at seven o'clock A. M. of the day of said election and shall remain open continuously from said time until seven o'clock P. M. of the same day, when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14436 of the Elections Code of the State of California. SECTION 4. That in all particulars not recited in this resolution, said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections in said City.
