A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH CONSENTING TO THE DISSOLUTION
0 OF THE TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN 0
CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS, the Area Coordinating Committee of the
Transportation Association of Southern California, by resolution
adopted on February 18, 1970, and the General Assembly of the
Southern California Association of Governments, by resolution
adopted on February 18, 1970, have recommended the clarification
and simplification of the area -wide transportation planning
process within the six - county region encompassing Imperial,
Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura
Counties; and
WHEREAS, the resolutions recommend that the duties of
the Area Coordinating Committee of TASC be superseded by the
General Assembly of SLAG and that those cities that are not now
members of SLAG be permitted to participate in the General
Assembly of SLAG on all transportation matters; and
WHEREAS, the State of California, through the Business
and Transportation Agency, and the Southern California Association
of Governments have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding
dated October 9, 1970, providing for the continuance of the
comprehensive transportation planning activities for the Southern
California area by the Southern California Association of
Governments effective upon the dissolution of TASC by action of
at least one -half of its member- Counties and one -half of its
member- Cities;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach DOES HEREBY RESOLVE as follows:
1. The City Council of the City of Newport Beach hereby

consents to the dissolution of the Transportation Association
of Southern California and to the continuance of comprehensive
area -wide transportation planning for the six - county region
encompassing Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San
Bernardino and Ventura Counties by the Southern California
Association of Governments.
2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution.
ADOPTED this 8th day of February, 1971.
