RESOLUTION NO. `X 376
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING PARKING FEES AND
REGULATIONS FOR THE USE OF CITY PARKING LOTS
AND REPEALING RESOLUTION. NO. 6839
WHEREAS, the City maintains and operates the following
parking lots:
and
1. The lot at the Corona del Mar State and City
Beach Park;
2. The lot on the Balboa Peninsula, southerly of
Ocean Front at Palm and Washington Streets,
commonly referred to as the Balboa Parking
Lot; and
3. The lot on 26th Street between Newport and
Balboa Boulevards, commonly referred to as
the 26th Street Parking Lot;
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish regul-
ations and parking fees for the use of said parking lots;
NOW,
, BE IT RESOLVED:
1. The City Manager shall determine the days on which
parking control shall be maintained and parking fees shall be
charged for the use of all City parking lots on the basis of his
evaluation of whether there is sufficient demand for the use of
said lots to justify providing a parking attendant or activating
an automatic parking gate.
2. For each day that parking control is maintained,
the following fees shall be charged for the use of said lots:
a. Corona del Mar State and City Beach Park:
(1) $1.00 per day on weekdays, for vehicles
other than buses.
(2) $1.50 per day on Saturdays, Sundays and
holidays, for vehicles other than buses.
(3) $5.00 per day for buses.

b. Balboa Parking Lot:
(1) $.50 per hour, with a maximum charge of
$1.00 per day, on Mondays through Fridays,
except on holidays, for vehicles other
than buses.
(2) $.75 per hour, with a maximum charge of
$1.50 per day, on Saturdays, Sundays and
holidays, for vehicles other than buses.
(3) $5.00 per day for buses.
(4) In order to encourage use of the Balboa
Parking Lot by persons shopping in the area, no
fee shall be charged for vehicles other than
buses for the first two hours of parking upon
the presentation of a validated parking slip.
Such validation must be by a place of business
in the vicinity of the lot and in accordance
with a validation plan which may be established
by the City Manager.
c. The City Manager is authorized to vary the
parking fees charged at the Corona del Mar State
and City Beach and Balboa Parking Lots during
the period from the last Sunday in September
and May 15th of any year from a minimum fee of
$1.00 for any vehicle to a maximum fee of $1.50
for any vehicle.
d. 26th Street Parkina Lot:
(1) $.50 per day on weekdays.
(2) $1.00 per day on Saturdays, Sundays and
holidays.
3. The City Manager is authorized to waive any of the
aforesaid fees established herein when a special event is being
held of a charitable or civic nature and it is in the best

interests of the City and the general public that fees not be
charged for the use of any such parking lot in connection with
said special event.
4. Resolution No. 6839 is repealed.
