HomeMy WebLinkAbout7471 - Municipal Employee Compensation PlanRESOLUTION NO. 7471 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ADOPTING A MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION PLAN FOR 1971 -1972 WHEREAS, Section 2.28.010 of the Newport Beach Municipal Code provides that, upon the recommendation of the City Manager, the City Council shall establish by resolution the classification of positions in city.employ- ment and a salary range or rate for each class or position; and WHEREAS, Section 2.28.030 of the Code provides that the City Manager shall, review the provisions of the resolution at least annually and recommend changes deemed necessary to remove inequities or to meet the oper- ational needs of the City; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 7227 a municipal employee compensation plan for 1970 -1971 was adopted; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has recommended the adoption of the hereinafter described municipal employee compensation plan for 1971 -1972; NOW, THEREFORE, BEJT RESOLVED that the following documents are hereby adopted as the municipal employee compensation plan for 1971 -1972 for the City of Newport Beach: 1. Alphabetical List of Permanent Classes and Assignment to Salary Ranges, consisting of five pages, and an Alphabetical List of Tempor- ary and ;Seasonal Classes and Assignment to Salary Ranges, consisting of one page which are attached hereto as Exhibit "A "; 2. Salary Schedules consisting of three pages which are attached hereto as Exhibit "B "; and 3. Special Provisions Regarding Compensation, consisting of four pages which are.attached hereto as Exhibit "C ". ADOPTED this 12th day of July, 1971. Lifeguard Classes Senior Lifeguards on full -time permanent basis assigned as summer • supervisors receive compensation at the corresponding salary range step in the next higher full salary range. Refuse Classes Refuse Crewmen, Refuse Leadmen, and Laborers assigned to work a standard 44 -hour week are compensated at the corresponding salary step in the next higher two full salary ranges. Refuse Crewmen and Refuse Leadmen assigned to a one -man refuse vehicle and a standard 44 -hour week are compensated at the corresponding salary step in the next higher five full salary ranges. Police clerical employees assigned to regular full work shifts at night receive $12 bi- weekly night differential pay. COMPENSATION FOR OFF -DUTY ASSIGNMENTS Police Classes Police employees assigned to work as ammunition reloaders during off -duty hours receive $2.70 hourly compensation. All Classes City employees assigned as representatives of the City to work for private employers receive special overtime compensation at the salary range and step to which they are regularly assigned. The private em- ployers will be billed by the City for the amount of the compensation plus overhead as follows: 1. Miscellaneous employees during working hours 20% 2. Public safety (fire and police) during normal 21.5% working hours 3. All employees during non - working hours 12% COMPENSATION FOR SPECIAL (QUALIFICATIONS Engineering Classes Engineers registered by the State of California assigned to classes not requiring State registration receive compensation at the corresponding salary step in the next higher full salary range.
