HomeMy WebLinkAbout7476 - Appointing Robert Wynn as City ManagerRESOLUTION NO. 7 47 6 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH APPOINTING ROBERT L. WYNN AS CITY MANAGER AND FIXING SALARY-AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 6108 dated February 16, 1965, Harvey L. Hurlburt was appointed City Manager of the City of Newport Beach; and WHEREAS, the resignation of Harvey L. Hurlburt has created a vacancy in that office, a position for which Robert L. Wynn, former City Manager of the City of Coronado has applied and been accepted; and WHEREAS, the City Council is now desirous of making a permanent appointment to the office of City Manager, and has the power and duty to fix the salary and conditions of employment of the City Manager; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach that ROBERT L. WYNN be and he is hereby appointed as City Manager of the City of Newport Beach for an indefinite term, effective August 2, 1971, pursuant and subject to the provisions of Section 500 of the City Charter, and subject to the additional conditions as follows: 1. Salary: $28,000 per year. 2. Working Hours: The City Manager will devote whatever time may be necessary to perform his job adequately. 3. Vacation and Sick Leave: The City Manager is to receive the same vacation and sick leave benefits afforded other employees of the City. Vacations accumulate. 4. Retirement: The City Manager is to receive the same retirement benefits afforded other City employees of the miscellaneous category of the California State Employees Retirement System. -1- 0 L J 5. Advance Training and Attendance at Conferences: With prior approval of the City Council for "out -of- town" functions, the City Manager will be permitted to attend a reasonable number of professional meetings, institutes and conferences. 6. Health Insurance and Life Insurance: The City Manager is to receive the same benefits as afforded other employees of the City. 7. City Car: An arrangement for transportation will be made that is mutually satisfactory to the City Council and the City Manager. 8. Special Allowances: The City Manager will be permitted to join professional organizations such as the Inter- national City Managers' Association, with said dues being a charge against the City of Newport Beach. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No. 6108 be and the same is hereby rescinded. ADOPTED this 12th day of July, 1971.
