RESOLUTION NO. 5 96
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH COMMENDING THE NEWPORT HARBOR
HIGH SCHOOL SAILOR BAND
WHEREAS, the Newport Harbor High School Sailor Band
has displayed continual dedication to providing exceptional
entertainment and music to the Newport Beach community; and
WHEREAS, the 150- member band has played in many community
service programs, concerts and parades, and
WHEREAS, over the last four years the band has appeared
in eighteen parades and has been awarded twenty -four trophies for
its outstanding performance; and
WHEREAS, the Newport Harbor High School Sailor Band was
selected out of 120 applicants as one of the twenty -one bands to
march in the 1972 Tournament of Roses Parade held in Pasadena on
New Year's day;
NOw, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Newport Beach does hereby commend the band members for
their continual dedication to this worthwhile activity which has
brought so much recognition and pleasure to the Newport Beach
community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of Newport
Beach extends its heartiest congratulations to the Newport Harbor
High School Sailor Band for its selection as one of the bands to
perform in the 1972 Tournament of Roses Parade.
