RESOLUTION N0: 7614
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH, REQUESTING THE CALIFORNIA.
HIGHWAY COMMISSION TO ESTABLISH THE HIGHEST
POSSIBLE PRIORITY WITH RESPECT TO THE CORONA
DEL MAR FREEWAY, AND URGING ITS IMMEDIATE
CONSTRUCTION.
WHEREAS, the design and location of the Corona del Mar Freeway is an
integral part of the southern coastal transportation area; and
WHEREAS, the construction of this freeway from the San Diego Freeway
to University Drive, is essential for traffic circulation in and around the
University of California at Irvine;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
Newport Beach recommends that the California Highway Commission establish
highest possible priority in connection with the construction of the Corona
del Mar Freeway, from San Diego Freeway to University Drive;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the California Highway Commission
initiate the necessary steps to have its construction completed at the earliest
possible date.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that such design and construction in no way
preclude the future use of Bonita and Coyote Canyons as a natural extension
thereof.
ADOPTED this 24th day of January, 1972.
