A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF
ORANGE TO USE FUNDS FROM THE COMMUNITY PARK
ASSISTANCE FUND TO PURCHASE CERTAIN PARCELS
OF PROPERTY LOCATED ALONG CLIFF DRIVE IN
NEWPORT BEACH
WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Supervisors haa.
approved a special fund for City /County cooperative park de-
velopment known as the Community Park Assistance Fund; and
WHEREAS, there exists along Cliff Drive in the City
of Newport Beach eight unimproved view parcels which are in
private ownership; and
WHEREAS, said parcels would provide an ideal location
for a regional public view park; and
WHEREAS, in order to preserve this site as open space
for public view park purposes, the City of Newport Beach has
executed an agreement with the owners of said properties for
the purchase of two of the eight parcels; and
WHEREAS, in order to insure that all of these parcels
will remain undeveloped thereby preserving this most spectacular
public view, the City of Newport Beach desires to acquire all
eight parcels; and
WHEREAS, it has been suggested that the County may
wish to assist the City in acquiring the remaining six parcels,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach hereby respectfully requests that
the Board of Supervisors for the County of Orange use funds from
the Community Park Assistance Fund to assist the City in pur-
chasing the remaining six parcels of property located along Cliff
Drive or in lieu thereof to obtain a one -year option on the acqui-
sition of said property.
