RESOLUTION NO. 8676
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING THE LAND
USE AND RESIDENTIAL GROWTH ELEMENTS OF
THE NEWPORT BEACH GENERAL PLAN IN THE
"COUNTY TRIANGLE" (AMENDMENT NO. 33)

WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted the Land Use
and Residential Growth Elements of the Newport Beach General
Plan; and
WHEREAS, said Land Use and Residential Growth
Elements set forth objectives and supporting policies which
will serve as a guide for the future planning and development
of the City; and
WHEREAS, the land generally designated and referred
to as the "County Triangle" as shown on attached plat marked
Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by this reference, is
unincorporated territory, but is completely surrounded by the
City of Newport Beach, and the City of Newport Beach has a vital
interest in the planning and development of said area as
development of said area will significantly and vitally effect
the City; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 65306 of the Government
Code, the County of Orange has referred to the City for
information and comment, a proposed General Plan change in the
"County Triangle "area.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 707 of the Charter of
the City of Newport Beach, the Planning Commission has held a
public hearing to consider an amendment to the Land Use and
Residential Growth Elements of the Newport Beach General Plan,
which amendments would change the land use designation of
• that portion of the "County Triangle" generally lying northwesterly
of Placentia Avenue, northeasterly of Medical Lane and the
extension thereof, from "multi- family residential" to "general
industry "; and
• WHEREAS, the Planning Commission has recommended to
the City Council that said General Plan Amendment No. 33 not
• be adopted; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing
to consider said amendment and finds that good cause.exists to
require a change in the Land Use and Residential Growth Elements
of the Newport Beach General Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach does hereby adopt General Plan
Amendment No. 33, amending the Land Use and Residential Growth
Elements of the Newport Beach General Plan to change the
designation of that certain land located in the "County Triangle"
generally located northwesterly of Placentia Avenue and
northeasterly of Medical Lane, and the extension thereof, as
shown on attached Exhibit "A" from'Multi- Family Residential" to
"General Industry."
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the
City of Newport Beach is hereby authorized and directed to
send a copy of this Resolution to the County of Orange for
consideration.
ADOPTED this 12thday of January 1976.
