RESOLUTION NO. 8718
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH INCREASING THE AUTHORIZED
STRENGTH OF POLICE SERGEANTS IN THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT FROM 20 TO 21 AND DECREASING THE
AUTHORIZED STRENGTH OF POLICE OFFICERS FROM
94 TO 93
WHEREAS, the Police Chief has requested the
reclassification of a Police Officer position to Police
Sergeant in order to supervise the dispatch function so as
to assure uniformity and ultimate officer safety; and
WHEREAS, there are presently 12 dispatcher positions
authorized in the Department; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the request
of the Police Chief and found it to be compatible with the
best interests of the City of Newport Beach.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach does hereby authorize an increase
in the strength of Police Sergeants in the Police Department
from 20 to 21, and a decrease in the authorized strength of
Police Officers from 94 to 93.
