HomeMy WebLinkAbout8746 - Police Chief Destruction of Records1 RESOLUTION NO. 8746 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH APPROVING THE DESTRUCTION OF CERTAIN RECORDS IN CUSTODY • OF THE CHIEF OF POLICE • WHEREAS, there are certain records under control of the Chief of Police which are no longer required to be kept; and WHEREAS, Section 34090 of the California Government Code provides that the head of a City Department, with the approval of the legislative body by Resolution, and the written consent of the City Attorney, may destroy records without making a copy thereof; and WHEREAS, the City Attorney has consented to the destruction of the records requested by the Chief of Police; and WHEREAS, it is hereby found and determined that the records requested to be destroyed by the Chief of Police are no longer required to be kept; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach that the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to destroy the following described records, without making a copy thereof, and the City Council approves the destruction of said records, which are described as follows: All records which were reported prior to January 1, 1971, and more particularly described as follows: 1. All traffic collision reports except those involving a death, an arrest, or city property or liability. 2. All found property reports. 3. All animal related reports. • 4. All suspicious incident reports. 5. All stored, impounded or repossessed vehicle reports. • • • 6. All injury reports except those involving a death or city property or liability. 7.
