RESOLUTION NO. 8798
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION
TO THE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF
GOVERNMENTS FOR A GRANT FROM THE LOCAL
TRANSPORTATION FUND FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF
A BICYCLE /PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE OVER THE NEWPORT
ISLAND CHANNEL
WHEREAS, through Senate Bill 821, there is available
for Orange County cities from the fiscal year 1975 -76 Local
Transportation Fund, $426,000 for the development of a bicycle/
pedestrian bridge over the Newport Island Channel; and
WHEREAS, the Southern California Association of
Governments has been designated as the delegating agency for
these funds; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach is desirous of
constructing a bicycle /pedestrian bridge over the Newport Island
Channel;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach does authorize the application to
the Southern California Association of Governments for said
funds for which the City of Newport Beach is eligible;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that funds allocated to the
City of Newport Beach through said application shall be used for
the construction of a bicycle /pedestrian bridge over the Newport
Island Channel.
