A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
• OF NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF
ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY
FINANCING PROGRAM FOR FISCAL YEAR 1977 -78 THE
WIDENING OF A PORTION OF WEST COAST HIGHWAY
(57TH STREET TO THE SANTA ANA RIVER)
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach desires to widen
a portion of West Coast Highway from 57th Street to the
Santa Ana River; and
WHEREAS, West Coast Highway is an important artery
in the County of Orange and is of general County interest; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by
appropriate action, provide in the County budget of the Special
Road Improvements Fund for the Fiscal Year 1977 -78 a sum of
money for the improvement of streets within the incorporated
cities of the County in accordance with the Orange County Arterial
Highway Financing Program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach hereby requests the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Orange to allocate to said City
from County funds the amount of $265,000; said amount to be
matched by funds from the City, to be used to aid said City
in the widening of West Coast Highway from 57th Street to the
Santa Ana River, and for the acquisition of necessary rights -
of -way; said improvements and acquisition of necessary rights -of-
way to be in accordance with the attached project statement;
• BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said
work and acquisition of necessary rights -of -way on West Coast

Highway in the manner provided, is in the general County
interest;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, by this Resolution,
• the City of Newport Beach agrees with the basic concepts of
the Arterial Highway.Financing Program, and further agrees
that its share of the cost of improvements and rights -of -way
will be available for the fiscal year 1977 -78.
