RESOLUTION NO. 9029
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH SUPPORTING ASSEMBLY CONSTI-
TUTIONAL AMENDMENT NO. 13
WHEREAS, Assemblyman Vincent Thomas has introduced
Assembly Constitutional Amendment No. 13, which would prevent
the courts of this State from ordering busing between schools
to achieve integration of those schools on the basis of race,
color, religion, sex or national origin; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is concerned that any program
of busing will result in disruption of our educational system
and will be far more harmful to the students than any benefits
which may be achieved by such a program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach hereby wishes to go on record in
support of Assembly Constitutional Amendment No. 13.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
requested to send copies of this resolution to Senator Dennis
Carpenter, Assemblyman Ronald Cordova, Assemblyman Vincent
Thomas and Members of the Assembly Judiciary Committee.
