HomeMy WebLinkAbout9529 - Ad Hoc Siltation & Grading CommitteeRESOLUTION NO. 9529 • A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING THE AD HOC SILTATION AND GRADING COMMITTEE WHEREAS, the City Council is concerned with the environmental damage occurring in Upper Newport Bay caused by increasing siltation; and WHEREAS, it would be in the best interests of the City to establish a committee to investigate the problem and make recommendations for controlling further siltation in the Upper Bay, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Newport Beach does hereby establish the Upper Bay Siltation and Grading Committee which shall be composed of the following membership and shall have the following duties and responsibilities: 1. Membership shall consist of three councilmen, namely Councilmen Hart, Hummel and Williams, the grading engineer, a representative of The Irvine Company, a representative of the Planning Commission, and two members representing the community at large. The Mayor shall be responsible for making all appoint- ments. 2. The Committee shall meet at the call of the Chairman who shall be Councilman Ray Williams. 3. The purpose of the Committee shall be to review the present Grading Ordinance, review potential siltation and erosion problems relating to the bluffs and Upper Newport Bay. • 4. Make recommendations to the City Council for regulations to control siltation through grading or by other means for the preservation of Upper Bay. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Committee shall • terminate and cease to exist on September 1, 1979, or when the Committee submits its report of recommendations to the City Council, whichever shall occur first.
