A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ADOPTING THE SONG "THAT'S
MY NEWPORT BEACH," MUSIC WRITTEN BY GUY
HALFERTY AND LYRICS BY GUY AND PHYLLIS HAL-
FERTY, AS THE OFFICIAL SONG OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH
WHEREAS, the Newport Harbor Jaycees conducted a
Newport Beach Song Contest; and
WHEREAS, the song "That's My Newport Beach," music
by Guy Halferty and lyrics by Guy and Phyllis Halferty, won
the contest of the Newport Harbor Jaycees; and
WHEREAS, the Arts Commission of the City of Newport
Beach has reviewed the song and recommended to the City Council
that the song be adopted as the Official Song of the City of
Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach has heard a rendition of the song and accepts the
recommendation of the Arts Commission that "That's My Newport
Beach" should become the Official Song of the City of Newport
Beach,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach that the song "That's My Newport
Beach," music by Guy Halferty and lyrics by Guy and Phyllis
Halferty, be and hereby is adopted as the Official Song of the
City of Newport Beach.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the
City of Newport Beach shall cause a copy of this resolution

to be delivered to Guy and Phyllis Halferty, acknowledging
that "That's My Newport Beach" has been named the Official
Song of the City of Newport Beach.
ADOPTED this 23rd day of July , 1979.
