RESOLUTION NO. 9626
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING RATES FOR TAXI-
CABS, ESTABLISHING A FUEL SURCHARGE, AND
RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 9438
WHEREAS, Section 5.12.100 of the Newport Beach
Municipal Code provides that the City Council shall by resolu-
tion establish a schedule of raters applicable to all taxicabs
operating in the City of Newport Beach; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 9438 has heretofore been
adopted establishing said rates; and
WHEREAS, a request for a change in the rates has
been made by the taxicab operator holding a certificate of
public convenience and necessity to establish a five percent
(5 %) surcharge to offset increased fuel costs; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has held a public hearing
and considered said application, and finds that the following
rates are reasonable and necessary,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach hereby establishes the following
schedule of rates:
$1.00 for the first one -fifth mile;
$0.20 for each additional one -fifth mile;
$9.00 per hour for waiting time and traffic delay;
$1.00 service charge for cancellation after taxicab
has been dispatched pursuant to service request;
No charge for additional passengers (i.e., five can
ride for the price of one);
No charge for three - minute waiting period when
picking up passengers.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the fuel surcharge must
be indicated in the "extra" fare window on the taxicab meter.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No. 9438 be
and is hereby rescinded.
ADOPTED this 28 th day of August , 1979.
