A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
• NEWPORT BEACH REGARDING DESIRABLE IMPROVEMENTS
FOR THE PUBLIC RECREATIONAL USE AND ENJOYMENT
OF NORTH STAR BEACH
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach and the County
of Orange jointly administer a parcel of land adjacent to
Upper Newport Bay and bounded by the public street North
Star Lane, said parcel commonly known as "North Star Beach
and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach has granted
permission to the Dover Shores Community Association to
place dredge material on North Star Beach and the County
of Orange has similary granted permission; and
WHEREAS, the placement of said dredge material will
involve finish grading which will render the area suitable
for public recreational use. Said area has experienced in-
formal public recreational use consisting of jogging, fishing,
wildlife observation, and other passive uses of a similar
nature; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newport Beach and the County
of Orange believe that the North Star Beach, upon completion
of the dredge material placement and related grading can be
developed to facilitate and encourage such public recreational
use and wish to cooperate fully in planning and implementing
• such development

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the following
facilities and improvements are found to be desirable
improvements for the public recreational use and enjoyment
of North Star Beach:
1. Jogging /exercise course with exercise
stations.
2. Fishing access.
3. Access and regulatory signing.
4. Portable restrooms with appropriate
architectural screening.
5. Facilities for sand sports such as
volleyball and frisbee activity.
6. Trash receptacles.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Newport
Beach wishes to cooperate fully with the County of Orange,
the Dover Shores Community Association, and any other
interested group in the planning and development of such
facilities.
