A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF NEWPORT BEACH ESTABLISHING TOW CHARGES,
STORAGE RATES AND AFTER HOURS RELEASE FEES
FOR OFFICIAL POLICE TOW TRUCK SERVICES AND
REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 9109
WHEREAS, on June 13, 1977, the City Council adopted
Resoltuion No. 9109 establishing towing charges and storage
rates for official police tow truck services; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 5.15.080 of the Newport
Beach Municipal Code, the City Council may review and revise the
fee schedule charged by the official police tow truck services
upon a finding that a rate increase or alteration is justified
and is in the public interest; and
WHEREAS, the proposed fee schedule for the official
police tow service has been submitted which is substantially
the same as the existing fee schedule approved by Resolution
9109; and
WHEREAS, Harbor Towing and G & W Towing have agreed
to be bound by the fee schedule hereinafter set forth; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the fee schedule
and found it to be appropriate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City of Newport Beach hereby establishes the following
towing charges and storage rates for the official police tow
truck service:
"TOWING CHARGES. Towing charges shall be based
per tow truck, on an hourly rate or percentage thereof
on time actually consumed with a minimum charge of:
Standard Tow
Accident
Storage /Impound
Day Night

Storage Rate Inside Outside
Car $5.00 $3.50
Truck 10.00 7.00
Storage rates shall be computed from midnight to midnight,
based on the actual time the vehicle is stored."
Dolly - $15.00
Remove and Replace Driveshaft - $5.00
Motorcycle
Tow - $26.00
Storage - 2.50
Roll Over and Winching - $15.00
Hourly Rate for Extended Service - $26.00 per hour
Release Vehicle After Business Hours - $5.00
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that:
1. Business hours are established at 7:00 A.M. to
9:00 P.M. seven days a week.
2. The after - business hours opening for inspection
or release of vehicles is established at $5.00.
3. Vehicles will be released without a fee charged for
after busines hours opening, regardless of the hour of release
or inspection, when the release or inspection request occurs
within a twelve -hour period from actual storage or impound.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No. 9109 be and
is hereby repealed.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby
directed to retain this fee schedule on file to be made available
to interested citizens upon request and to forward a copy thereof
to the official police towing service companies.
