A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH CAUSING CITY MEASURE D TO BE PLACED
ON THE APRIL 8, 1980, GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election is to be held
in the City of Newport Beach on April 8, 1980, at which time
there will be submitted to the qualified electors of the City
certain City Measures; and
WHEREAS, a petition has been circulated among the
registered electors of the City of Newport Beach to place on
said general election ballot a City measure to amend certain
sections of the Charter.of the City of Newport Beach to change
the date of the General Municipal Election from the second
Tuesday in April of even - numbered years to the first Tuesday
after, the first Monday in November of even - numbered years to
coincide with the state -wide general election; and
WHEREAS, said petition has been signed with an adequate
number of registered electors that the Registrar of Voters of
Orange County have certified to the City of Newport Beach that
said City Measure has qualified to be placed on the ballot for
the General Municipal Election to be held on April 8, 1980;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Newport Beach that said City measure shall be and is hereby
designated as City Measure D.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Measure shall be placed
on said ballot and shall be designated City Measure D and the
following words shall appear on the ballot and designate said
Measure as follows:
CITY MEASURE D: Shall City Measure D which amends
certain sections of the City Charter, to change the
date of election from the second Tuesday in April of
even - numbered years to coincide with the state -wide
general election on the first Tuesday after the
first Monday in even - numbered years be ratified?
ADOPTED this 21st day of January 1980.
