HomeMy WebLinkAbout9720 - General Municipal Election - 4-8-80• t RESOLUTION NO. 9720 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT BEACH CHANGING THE LANGUAGE APPEARING ON THE BALLOT FOR THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON APRIL 8, 1980, FOR CITY MEASURES A AND B. WHEREAS, the General Municipal Election is to be held in the City of Newport Beach on April 8, 1980, at which time there will be submitted to the qualified electors of said City three City measures, as set forth in Resolution No. 9629, and therein designated as Proposition 1, Proposition 2 and Proposition 3; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach adopted Resolution No. 9706 redesignating said propositions to City Measure A, City Measure B and City Measure C; and WHEREAS, the ballot designation of former Proposition 1, now City Measure B, and former Proposition 2, now City Measure B, was not fully descriptive of said City measures; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires to change the ballot description of said City measures to more fully and accurately describe the purposes of said City measures; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach as follows: SECTION 1. The ballot designation for City Measure A, shall be and is hereby changed to read as follows: Shall City Measure A, which amends certain sections of the City Charter, to change the date of election from the second Tuesday in April of even - numbered years to coincide with local school board elections on first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of odd - numbered years be ratified? SECTION 2. The ballot designation for City Measure B, shall be and is hereby changed to read as follows: Shall City Measure B, which amends certain sections of the City Charter, to reduce the cost of living increases in the amounts now allowed— as reimbursement for expenses incurred by the Mayor ' and City Councilmen,and delegating authority to City Council to adjust the amounts based on the Consumer Price Index or an annual five percent increase, whichever is lesser, be ratified?
