HomeMy WebLinkAbout82-102 - Citizens Traffic Advisory CommitteeRESOLUTION NO. 82 -1C12 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY • OF NEWPORT BEACH CHANGING THE NAME OF THE TRANSPORTATION PLAN CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE TO CITIZENS TRAFFIC ADVISORY COMMITTEE, DELETING REFERENCE TO THE ORANGE COUNTY MULTI -MODAL TRANSPORTATION PLAN COMMITTEE AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 8755 WHEREAS, there currently exists a transportation plan citizens' advisory committee; and WHEREAS, due to changed circumstances and the current non - existence of the Orange County Multi -Modal Transportation Plan Committee; and WHEREAS, it is necessary to update the current committee to properly reflect its duty to provide citizen input on transportation matters; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Newport Beach that the current committee be renamed Citizens Traffic Advisory Committee. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this committee shall be comprised of 14 citizens with each councilman nominating two members who shall have voting rights. Said committee shall also include two liaison members from the City Council, to ex- officio members from the Newport Harbor Chamber of Commerce and one ex- officio from the Corona del Mar Chamber of Commerce. Responsibilities and duties of said committee shall be as follows: 1. Serve as a source of community opinion for the assessment of citizens' desires and needs regarding the City's transportation requirements; and • 2. Monitor transportation activilties at the County level in relation to Newport Beach. d BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that: A. The officers of said Committee shall be elected by the Committee and be comprised of a chairman, a • vice- chairman and a secretary; B. A quorum shall consist of one third of any currently- serving membership, but not less than five (5) persons; C. If an appointee is absent from three (3) consecutive meetings, while not absent from the County, this fact shall be reported to the apointing councilman; and D. Reports and recommendations of the citizens' committee shall be made directly to the City Council, and any publication of said committee shall reuire authorization from the City Council. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council shall hold an annual review of the Transportation Plan Citizens Advisory Committee for the purpose of determining the necessity for continuing the existence of the Committee. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No. 8755 is hereby repealed. • ATTES City Clerk ADOPTED this 28th day of June. r 1982• 2
