RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
• NEWPORT BEACH REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPER-
VISORS OF THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO CONSOLIDATE A
SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELEC-
TION, PURSUANT TO SECTION 23302 OF THE
CALIFORNIA ELECTIONS CODE
WHEREAS, a Special Municipal Election
the City of Newport Beach on November 2, 1982,
proposed ground lease, by the City of Newport
profit corporation, of the interest of the City
in North Star Beach, to allow for constructi<

WHEREAS, it is desirable that said Special Municipal
Election be consolidated with the Statewide Election to be held
on the same date and that within said City, the precincts, poll-
ing places and election officers for the two elections be the
same, and that the Registrar of Voters of the County of Orange,
canvass the returns of the Special Municipal Election, and that
the Statewide Election and Special Municipal Election be held in
all respects as if there were only one election;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWPORT
BEACH DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS%
1. That pursuant to the requirements of Section 23302
of the Elections Code of the State of California, the Board of
Supervisors of the County of Orange be and hereby is, requested
to consent and agree to the consolidation of a Special Municipal
Election with the Statewide Election to be held on November 2,
• 1982, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of
said City, a ballot measure relating to the proposed ground
lease, by the City of Newport Beach to a non - profit corporation,
of the interest of the City of Newport Beach in North Star Beach,
to allow for construction of an aquatic center for human - powered
craft and related activities.
2. That on the ballots to, be used for said Special
Municipal Election, in addition to any other matters required by
law, there shall be printed, substantially, the following:
• SHALL THE CITY COUNCIL OF NEWPORT BEACH
BE AUTHORIZED TO LEASE, FOR. TWENTY -FIVE YES
YEARS, ITS INTEREST IN NORTH STAR BEACH
TO ALLOW A NON - PROFIT CORPORATION
TO CONSTRUCT, AT NO COST TO
THE CITY, AN AQUATIC CENTER FOR HUMAN- NO
POWERED CRAFT AND RELATED ACTIVITIES
THAT ARE SUPPORTIVE OF THE PRIMARY USE
3. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to
issue instructions to the Registrar of Voters to take any and all
steps necessary for the holding of said consolidated election.
4. The City of Newport Beach recognizes that addition-
al costs will be incurred by the County by reason of this
consolidation, and agrees to reimburse the County for any such
costs.
5. That the City Clerk for the City of Newport Beach
be, and hereby is, directed to file a certified copy of this
Resolution with the Board of Supervisors and with the Registrar
of Voters for the County of Orange.
