PJ <br />E <br />RESOLUTION NO. 98- 15 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NEWPORT BEACH AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 94 -67 <br />CHANGING THE COMMITTEE COMPOSITION AND EXPANDING ITS <br />DUTIES, AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. 94 -67. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Newport Beach previously adopted <br />a Resolution No. 9597, Resolution No. 82 -133, Resolution No. 85 -104, Resolution No. <br />88 -53, Resolution No. 88 -106, and Resolution No. 94 -67, regarding the establishment, <br />duties and composition of the Aviation Committee; and <br />WHEREAS, the approval by the Orange County electorate of Measure A and <br />the defeat of Measure S established the El Toro reuse planning process to establish a <br />commercial airport at El Toro, barring the discovery of a "fatal flaw" during the planning <br />process; and <br />WHEREAS, in response to this reuse planning process the City Council <br />desires to revise the Committee's member composition and duties. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of <br />Newport Beach does hereby establish the Aviation Committee to be comprised of the <br />following membership: <br />1. Two (2) members of the Newport Beach City Council; <br />2. City Manager or his/her designee; <br />3. City Attorney or his/her designee; <br />4. One appointee from each of the seven councilmanic districts appointed <br />by the City Councilmember; <br />5. Alternates for the seven (7) Council appointees appointed by the City <br />Councilmember; <br />6. Current President or his/her designee of the Airport Working Group <br />(AWG). <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the duties of the Aviation Committee shall <br />be as follows: <br />A. Monitor and participate as appropriate in the El Toro Reuse Planning <br />Process; <br />B. Monitor development, operations, and other activities at John Wayne <br />Airport and report to the City Council; <br />C. Review aviation - related information from Southern California Association <br />of Governments (SCAG), the Orange County Regional Airport Authority <br />• (OCRAA), El Toro Reuse Planning Authority (ETRPA), and other groups <br />involved in airport land use, master plans, additional site selection and <br />related matters; <br />
