A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
NEWPORT BEACH DESIGNATING PUBLIC BEACHES
AND TIDELANDS AS NO PARKING AREAS
WHEREAS, there is an increase in the number of vehicles driving onto and
parking on public beaches and tidelands.
WHEREAS, it is necessary to provide authority to tow such vehicles when they
become stuck or refuse to leave; and
WHEREAS, Vehicle Code, Section 22651 provides that any peace officer may
remove any vehicle which is parked or left standing where local authorities have
prohibited parking and have authorized their removal. No vehicle may be removed
unless signs are posted giving notice of the removal.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Newport
Beach, as follows:
1. The City of Newport Beach determines that parking is prohibited on
public beaches and tidelands;
2. Vehicles which are parked on or left standing in such areas are
subject to removal;
3. The City of Newport Beach will post signs providing notice of their
removal.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager is authorized to sign all
• documents and to carry out the provisions of this Resolution.
